ALL FUNDS RAISED BENEFIT NEW X-RAY AND FLUOROSCOPY EQUIPMENT IN OUR MEDICAL IMAGING SUITE

Early Detection…
Saves Lives

Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital’s (SMH) Medical Imaging department plans to replace our general X-Ray, Fluoroscopy, and Portable imaging equipment in the upcoming year. The equipment replacement project is projected to cost approximately $850,000.00.

Dependable and functioning Imaging equipment allows SMH to meet the most pressing needs now and a clear expansion pathway as our needs evolve. The replacement of all three pieces of equipment offers significant advancements in technology, patient comfort, and safety. Additionally, by replacing the three units simultaneously, they can share key technology, permitting interchangeable components to be used wherever needed. This project would allow us to reconfigure our exam rooms, better utilize the new equipment and offer improved workflow.

Replacing our current general X-Ray room and Portable X-ray unit will ensure that our patients benefit from the latest technology available. This new equipment includes necessary upgrades like antimicrobial coating for easy cleaning, auto-positioning, and the ability to share detectors in the event one is contaminated for improved patient safety. The Portable X-Ray machine permits access to tight-fitting ICU, ER, OR, and patients’ rooms and patients in areas requiring isolation. Both upgrades further benefit the patient by minimizing delays in patent care and diagnosis and expediting patient transfers to higher care facilities.  Finally, the Fluoroscopy room will be reconfigured with a Fluoroscopic unit with the latest technology and an improved, fully functional X-Ray system.  The addition of this multi-purpose room will provide SMH with two complete imaging spaces and allow us to offer new procedures and exams previously unavailable to our community, and improve departmental and organizational workflows.

The new equipment enables SMH to address the health needs of our community with the most powerful, dependable, and advanced technology available.  Because these systems deliver superior image quality, they will lead to more accurate diagnosis and, most importantly, ensure proper treatment and treatment plans.  These improvements enhance the patient experience by contributing to better workflows, increased patient satisfaction, and improved community health outcomes.

Our Medical Imaging Suite includes:

  • 3D Mammography
  • 3D Ultrasound
  • Fluoroscopy
  • General X-Ray
  • EKG
  • Nuclear Medicine
  • CT
  • Echocardiography
  • MRI (Traveling Unit)
