The SMH Auxiliary hosted the “Love Lite Tree” lighting ceremony on Monday December 7th. With over 50 attendees present, the tree was lit and the names of those honored were read aloud in the hospital atrium. The service was led by Gerry Decker, SMH Auxiliary member, the invocation was given by Rev. Eleanor Russey and Interim Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Randy Olli, discussed the significance of the tree for the community at large. Special thank you to Phyllis Burge and Rita Salter for reading the names for the attendees present.
A musical performance was given by The Country Roses that encouraged everyone to participate in caroling. After the ceremony everyone was invited to the café to enjoy refreshments and more beautiful music.
Community members made a $3 contribution for each name they wished to have honored. Names of people honored, memorialized, or recognized for Military service will appear on a board in the Atrium and in the Advisor in the new year. This year approximately $2000.00 was raised.
Contributions to the “LOVE LITE TREE” are used to help purchase hospital equipment and fund medical scholarships for local students.
