Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital is proud to announce the use of the new digital flexible cystoscope. A cystoscope is a small-caliber flexible instrument with a camera at its end. It allows the doctor to peer into the urethra and the bladder. Dr. Shahar Madjar, M.D., MBA and Urological Surgeon offers Urology Services at Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital and implemented use of the equipment in early January.
The new cystoscope is equipped with a high definition monitor and NBI (Narrow Band Imaging) capabilities that allows Dr. Madjar, our urologist, to look into the bladder and closely examine it. Using it, he can identify bladder tumors, kidney stones, enlargement of the prostate and other urological conditions.
Studies show that the NBI (Narrow Band Imaging) visualized:
Dr. Madjar, the patient and the nurse who assists Dr. Madjar can all watch the procedure on the screen — in high resolution and in real time.
This new scope has small-caliber and smooth edges. The procedure can be performed with ease, under local anesthesia, with only mild discomfort. The procedure takes only a few minutes, and does not require special preparation.
After the procedure, Dr. Madjar meets with the patient and discusses the results and the treatment plan.
The new cystoscope is the latest addition to our line of equipment that allows diagnosis and treatment of a variety of urological conditions.
