Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital is in the process of optimizing cataract surgeries. The hospital recently purchased and began using the Alcon Centurion Vision System. The Alcon Centurion is a surgical device that helps eye doctors perform cataract surgeries more safely and accurately. It has advanced features that help the doctor operate with more precision and confidence, and it can adapt to the eye’s changing conditions during surgery. The Alcon Centurion is packed with the latest technology and design, surpassing their previous product line from versatility to ease of use. It automatically adapts to the eye’s changing conditions, providing anterior chamber stability during each step of the surgery.
Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital provides cataract surgery locally through a partnership with Garrett Eye Center. Dr. John Garrett is a Board-certified eye surgeon and has performed thousands of cataract and glaucoma procedures, as well as thousands of laser operations for glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, and retinal diseases. As an accomplished refractive surgeon, Dr. Garrett has had additional training in Refractive Surgery including Radial Keratotomy (RK), Astigmatic Keratotomy (AK), Excimer Laser Photorefractive Keratectomy (PRK), Laser Assisted in Situ Keratomileusis (LASIK), and phakic IOLs. Dr. Garrett founded the first FDA approved laser vision correction center in the State of Wisconsin, located in Green Bay, and was the first U.P. doctor to perform Laser Vision Correction. Dr. Garrett began performing near-sighted correction surgical procedures in 1993.
Dr. Cameron Anderson recently joined Garrett Eye Center and is a comprehensive ophthalmic surgeon who treats a wide spectrum of eye conditions, with a special interest in refractive cataract surgery and minimally invasive glaucoma surgery. Anderson is a Gladstone native who is excited to return to the area where he grew up. He received his undergraduate degree from Northern Michigan University, his medical degree from Michigan State University and his ophthalmology residency at Henry Ford Hospital.
