Richard Vermeulen, M.D.

Dr. Richard Vermeulen graduated from Wayne State School of Medicine prior to completing his Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation residency through Wayne State University and the Detroit Medical Center in 1990.  This has afforded him a strong neurology, musculoskeletal and electrodiagnostic foundation.  He treats children and adults with a variety of therapies including injection therapies such as BOTOX spasticity and cervical dystonia management.

Low back/extremity pain and peripheral nerve impairments/electro diagnostic assessments are areas of expertise.

Common conditions treated include: back pain, arthritis, various tendon/musculoskeletal pain disorders, peripheral nerve disease, gait disorders and complex rehabilitation such as stroke, spinal cord injury, muscle disease or cerebral palsy.

His office is located at the SMH Specialist Clinic located at 101 Walnut Street, Manistique MI.  Appointments can be made by calling 906-341-1888.

Janet Pratt, PMHNP-BC

Board Certified Family Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

Janet Pratt graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Lake Superior State University.  She obtained her Master of Science in Nursing and Family Nurse Practitioner Specialty from Northern Michigan University.  Janet developed a passion for mental health and recognized the need in the Upper Peninsula for advanced practitioners in this field. She pursued and completed a Post-Master’s degree in Family Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Specialty from the University of South Alabama.

Her practice focuses on adult clients with concerns such as: depression, anxiety, OCD, PTSD, bipolar disorder and schizophrenia.

Brenda Barber, Wound Care Specialist

Brenda Barber, FNP-BC, GNP-BC, CWS, CWOCN

Brenda Barber graduated from the University of Missouri with a dual masters degree in Family and Geriatrics as certified Nurse Practitioner.  She became a certified wound specialist in 2001 through the American Board of Wound Management.  Brenda works full time in the Outpatient Wound Clinic located at the Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital Medical Office Building at 115 Lake Street.
