At Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital, we are proud to provide our patients with access to state of the art medical analysis and diagnostics in our hospital laboratory. Our laboratory houses all of our high tech equipment used in blood analysis, microbiology culturing, and pathology diagnosis.
The laboratory is responsible for analyzing all biological samples that may be requested by your doctor. This can include things like blood samples, stool samples, saliva swabs, urine samples, and more. Samples are collected by certified laboratory employees and/or nurses or doctors.
Analysis can involve separating out certain compounds to identify levels of essential components and hormones, culturing bacteria and viruses to diagnose infections, and assessing physical characteristics of the sample to determine any abnormal pathologies.
Laboratory work will be involved in almost all patient treatment programs at Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital, as it provides doctors insight into what is happening inside the body without requiring surgery.
Laboratory results can determine which antibiotics should be used, whether a patient has a chronic or acute deficiency in any vitamin, or if there is an imbalance indicating a specific disease or cancer. .

The laboratory is staffed 27/7
The laboratory’s out-patient office is open from 7:00am to 6:30 pm Monday through Friday.
DOT drug screening and breath alcohol analysis for accidents can be performed at any time per contract. For after hours, contact the ED to contact the On-Call Lab staff.
Holiday lab coverage is provided by the On-Call staff for the entire 24 hours.
The laboratory’s out-patient office is closed on Holidays.

The care that was provided by The nurses (Cindy, Felicia Ruth) and staff was exceptional. The entire staff was very friendly and made you feel welcome. We received a call from Felicia the next day to check on my husband to check his pain level and do a follow up. The surgery area from check in to check out was well organized, clean, and up to date. Thank you to all of you for what you do so well and everything beyond your normal duties.
