Dr. Bomber grew up in Pellston, Michigan and graduated high school there. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Jacksonville University, Jacksonville, Florida and his D.O. degree from Des Moines University. He completed his residency in family practice at the Toledo Hospital. Dr. Bomber previously had a practice in Engadine Michigan at the West Mackinac Health Clinic. He has also served as State Medical Director for Corizon Health that contracts with the Michigan Department of Corrections in providing healthcare for our prison inmate population. He has been a part-time resident of Naubinway since 2003 and full-time since 2008. Dr. Bomber has been very active in volunteering in numerous activities at the Engadine Consolidated Schools, Rexton and Naubinway Christian Fellowship Churches and the Hiawatha Sportsman’s Club.
His hobbies include sailing, music (guitar, vocal and mandolin), fishing, hiking, snow-shoeing and creating log furniture from U.P. native Cedar for friends and family. Dr. Bomber’s wife Jomay is a music teacher at Engadine Consolidated Schools and Worship Director for the Naubinway and Rexton Christian Fellowship Churches. They have three children, oldest daughter Lorhel who is JAG Officer in the United States Coast Guard; daughter Sarah who is a singer-musician-performer for Belinda King Productions U.K. and son Jeff, a second year law-student at Penn-State Dickenson.
Joan Matejovsky, FNP-C, began her nursing career in 1989 and has practiced as a Family Nurse Practitioner since 2018. She earned her nursing diploma from Bronson School of Nursing and completed BSN and then went on to complete her MSN at Spring Arbor University.
With decades of experience in settings such as Elkhart General, Niles Hospital, and ProMedica Coldwater, Joan spent much of her RN career in emergency care and various hospital departments. As an NP, she has worked in urgent care, pediatrics, and primary care in nursing homes and rural communities, including Beaver Island.
Joan and her husband were drawn to Manistique and Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital for its rural charm and strong sense of community. Outside of work, she enjoys rockhounding, reading, walking, and exploring nature.
She is dedicated to compassionate, patient-centered care.
Everyone in the ambulatory care/outpatient surgery were great!! They all made me feel very comfortable and did a great job!!! thank you to the whole outpatient staff and Doctor Rayner..I would recommend Schoolcraft or patient to anyone in need of surgery

The care that was provided by The nurses (Cindy, Felicia Ruth) and staff was exceptional. The entire staff was very friendly and made you feel welcome. We received a call from Felicia the next day to check on my husband to check his pain level and do a follow up. The surgery area from check in to check out was well organized, clean, and up to date. Thank you to all of you for what you do so well and everything beyond your normal duties.
