Family Nurse Practitioner
Naubinway Rural Health Clinic
Joan Matejovsky is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner who joined the healthcare field in 1989 as a registered nurse and has been practicing as a nurse practitioner since 2018.
She began her nursing education at Central Michigan University before transferring to Andrews University and ultimately graduating with her diploma in nursing from Bronson School of Nursing. Her passion for learning continued through every stage of life. After starting a family and facing personal challenges, she returned to school to earn her Bachelor of Science in Nursing, then completed her Master of Science in Nursing at Spring Arbor University, becoming a Family Nurse Practitioner.
Joan brings decades of experience in diverse healthcare settings, including Elkhart General Hospital, Niles Hospital, and ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital. As an RN, she spent many years working in the emergency department, as well as floating throughout various hospital departments, with the exception of surgery.
Following her NP certification, Joan worked in both urgent care and pediatrics before relocating to Beaver Island, where she practiced for several years. She later transitioned to providing primary care in nursing homes and eventually returned to Beaver Island before moving again to be closer to family. Joan and her husband were drawn to the Manistique area and Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital for its rural charm and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the community.
Outside of work, Joan enjoys rockhounding, reading, walking, and exploring the natural beauty of the area. Joan is deeply committed to patient-centered care and lives by the principle of treating others the way she would want to be treated.
Joan is based at the Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital Rural Health Clinic in Naubinway. She is currently accepting new patients. To schedule an appointment, please call 906-341-2153 EXT 1
