SCHOOLCRAFT MEMORIAL HOSPITAL – The Community Staff Relations Team at Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital has been working with Shirley’s Angels to keep an important initiative active for cancer patients in the Ambulatory Care Department. Currently, every NEW chemotherapy patient receives a bag of comforting essentials during their first treatment of Chemotherapy. “This is an extremely difficult time for patients and this simple act of kindness has brought smiles and hope to many of our patients” said Nikki Burton, member of the Community Staff Relations Team at SMH.
The committee’s goal was to collect enough items to provide chemotherapy bags for ALL NEW Chemotherapy Patients in 2018. SMH has already received over $150 in cash donations and filled 25 of the bags so far. Thank to all of the employees and community members that donated money and the items needed to make this project a success. SMH has received word that the high school Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) and the Girl Scouts will also be donating items for the bags including:
