Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital held an American Military Flag Ceremony outside the front entrance of the hospital on Monday October 19th, 2015 at 7:00pm.
The flag was donated by Robert and Lorraine Schultz of Gulliver, Michigan. in honor and memory of George Howard Buckely who served in the U.S. Military from 1951-1955.
Mrs. Schultz presented the flag to the U.S. Army honor guard of the Iron Mountain Recruiting Company. The audience stood with pride as the flag was raised and the Manistique High School band played The Star Spangled Banner.
The service was led by Don Perigo, Chairman of the SMH Board of Trustees as it marked completion of the initial phase of the hospital’s building project. The ceremony took place at dusk with over 50 attendees present.
PJ Stoll from Graymont Western Lime was in attendance to present SMH with a generous donation for the flagpole installation.
