The Nurse Intern Program is a paid employment opportunity for undergraduate nursing students who want to gain real-world clinical experience while continuing their education. Students can work alongside experienced nurses and healthcare professionals, build confidence in a hospital environment, and strengthen their skills before graduation.
Rather than waiting until after nursing school to begin gaining professional experience, nurse interns can earn while they learn—building a strong foundation for their future nursing career.
Nursing school provides the knowledge and clinical education needed to become a nurse. Our Nurse Intern Program gives students another opportunity to put that learning into practice.
Nurse interns become part of the Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital team and gain firsthand exposure to the day-to-day operations of patient care. Interns work under the direction of experienced healthcare professionals, allowing them to become more comfortable in the clinical environment while learning about teamwork, communication, patient-centered care, and the responsibilities of a professional nurse.
For students approaching graduation, this experience can help make the transition from nursing student to professional nurse feel more familiar and achievable.

Students can continue focusing on their education while gaining valuable experience—and earning a paycheck at the same time.
Applicants must be currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program. Current Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital employees who are attending nursing school and are in good standing are also encouraged to apply.
Candidates will be screened based on their areas of interest. Department managers will interview qualified applicants and determine placement within available Nurse Intern positions.

A nursing career doesn’t have to begin the day you receive your diploma.
Working as a Nurse Intern can give students an opportunity to experience hospital nursing from a new perspective, develop professional relationships, learn from experienced nurses, and discover which areas of nursing interest them most.
For students who may be interested in beginning their nursing careers at Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital after graduation, the program also provides an opportunity to get to know our organization, our teams, and the patients and communities we serve.
