Local businesses were invited to be a part of the First Annual Walk for Wellness Fundraiser in a unique way, a contest. Merchants were challenged to raise the most pledges and in return be awarded a plaque and advertising throughout the event.
This year the first ever Schoolcraft Walk for Wellness Merchant Support plaque was awarded to Woodland Meadows Assisted Living for raising $162. A special thanks to Woodland Meadows forsupporting this cause and to the other participating local businesses including Putvins, Hair Connections, Christopher Antiques and Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital.
The actual Walk for Wellness event is Saturday, August 2nd; registration begins at 7:30 a.m. and the walk starts at 8 a.m. for the long route and 8:30 a.m. for the short route. The walk will consist of a course that winds through beautiful Manistique beginning at Central Park. We hope to have hundreds of participants for this fun-one-day non-competitive event.
Lunch will be provided for all walkers. This is a great community project that supports the diabetic and cardiac rehab patients. The funding will support glucometer strips, diabetic and cardiac rehab education.
